India's C-DOT Ships 14 Quantum-Secure Telecom Products

India's Centre for Development of Telematics launched 14 indigenous quantum-secure products during its 43rd foundation day. The set includes quantum key distribution hardware and post-quantum cryptography protocols for national communications and future 6G networks.

What shipped

C-DOT positions the products as production-grade, aimed at financial institutions and telecom operators moving off vulnerable classical public-key infrastructure. The portfolio covers QKD hardware and software protocols, two layers of the same migration problem.

The 6G angle

India's Bharat 6G Vision folds quantum security into the next mobile standard. Securing signaling and backhaul ahead of 6G rollout lets operators avoid retrofitting cryptography later. C-DOT also ties the launch to an export mandate for "Made in India" telecom and cybersecurity products.

Why a state lab matters

C-DOT is a government research body, not a startup. State labs building QKD and post-quantum products signals India treats quantum security as national infrastructure, a different posture from markets that leave the work to private vendors.

Reading the announcement

The launch is C-DOT's own announcement. Product names, deployment contracts, and independent security audits have yet to follow. Fourteen products sounds substantial, but a product list does not equal field deployment in banks or carrier networks.
